Georgia Insurance Commissioner John King has became the second major Republican to enter the 2026 race to challenge Democratic U.S. Sen Jon Ossoff.

Georgia Insurance Commissioner John King (R-GA) kicked off his U.S. Senate bid on Monday, leaning into his credentials in the military and law enforcement while portraying Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) as out of step with the state’s values.

He joins U.S. Representative Buddy Carter in the growing list of GOP hopefuls seeking to challenge Ossoff, who is up for re-election in what is expected to be a closely watched and competitive race.
