Shohei Ohtani made his Dodgers pitching debut at home Monday, giving up a run in his lone inning of work, then struck out in his first plate appearance as Los Angeles' DH, marking the first time he has pitched and hit in a game since Aug.

Shohei Ohtani's initial rehabilitation plan did not have him starting on the mound for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday. He was initially set to make his first pitching appearance since 2023 after this year's All-Star break.

In the last season that he pitched in 2023, Ohtani had a 3.13 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP and a 10-5 record, helping him earn a second AL MVP. Unfortunately, his season on the mound was cut short as he underwent surgery for a UCL tear in his right elbow in September. Since then, he's been on the road to recovery.
