The bill includes a $600 billion reduction in federal Medicaid spanning over the next ten years. This will impact 28,974 people in Ross County who are on Medicaid, according to The Ohio Department of Medicaid. That is 37.66% of the county.
The Senate passed Trump’s so-called “big, beautiful bill” after a 26-hour marathon of negotiations during which Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski, as she put it later, “struggled mightily” to soften the biggest funding blows to her state before ultimately casting a vote that guaranteed its passage.
Democrats are already on offense.
Gov. Josh Stein said the bill could result in more than 500,000 people in NC losing health coverage and leave 1.4 million unable to afford food.
