At least 9 million people in the nation's upper Midwest region are under red flag warnings on Monday, including residents of Minnesota, where a wildfire was already burning out of control in the largest national forest east of the Mississippi River.

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning at 9:23 a.m. EDT on Monday valid between 10 a.m. EDT and 10 p.m. EDT for Keweenaw, Ontonagon, Houghton, Baraga, Marquette, Gogebic, Iron and Dickinson counties.

Multiple Wisconsin counties, including Marinette, are under "Extreme" fire danger from the state Department of Natural Resources.
