CHICAGO — Longtime Springfield lobbyist Mike McClain, who spent years as a close friend and advisor to ex-Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, was sentenced to two years in prison Thursday for his role in a bribery scheme targeted at the former speaker.

McClain and his "ComEd Four" codefendants were convicted last year of charges of conspiracy, bribery and falsifying documents.

Michael McClain, a longtime lobbyist for utility giant Commonwealth Edison who was also a close confidant of then-Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, was sentenced to two years in prison Thursday for his central role in a scheme to bribe the powerful speaker in exchange for his help with ComEd’s legislative agenda.
