Arnold has confirmed that he will leave Liverpool at the end of the season after 20 years at his boyhood club. The Liverpool vice-captain was out of contract at the end of June and could complete his long-awaited move to Real Madrid before the summer’s Club World Cup.

Arnold leaving the club when his contract expires in June. The defender has been at the centre of ongoing speculation over his future since the start of 2025 as his current deal at Anfield approached its final months.

Alexander-Arnold’s departure this summer, reportedly to Real Madrid, will bring an end to a 20-year spell at his boyhood team during which he made 257 Premier League appearances, helping Liverpool to win the title in 2019/20 and 2024/25 and finish as runners-up in 2018/19 and 2021/22.
