On Friday night, less than a week after the Boston Red Sox shocked the baseball world by trading star Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants, the two teams met to kick off a three-game weekend series.

Devers, 28, entered Friday night 3 for his first 11 with the Giants. In his previous 73 games with the Red Sox, he had hit .272/.401/.504 with 15 home runs. The resulting 152 OPS+ would represent a new career-high if he were able to maintain it the rest of the way.

Roughly a week after the Rafael Devers trade went down, Red Sox manager Alex Cora is still fielding questions about the franchise choosing to ship away its homegrown star—and he doesn't sound too happy about it.
